What is Bacteria? Bacteria are a large group of prokaryotic organisms, except Archaea. Bacteria have a very small size (microscopic) and have a big role in life on earth. In the classification bacteria classified in the Divisio schizomycetes.
Several groups of bacteria known as causative infection and disease. While other groups could provide enormous benefits to human life, particularly in food, medicine, and industry.
Bacteria have a simple cell structure: without nucleus (main cell), cell skeleton, and another organelle like a mitochondria and chloroplast. This became a basis different between prokaryote cell and eukaryote cell (more complex cell).
Bacteria have a chromosome, ribosome, and some bacteria have a food granule, vacuole, and magnetosom. Some bacteria can become endospores to survive in extreme condition.
Bacteria can found in all places: land, water, and air. Bacteria are a parasite (pathogen) with another organism even in human body. Commonly bacteria have a cell wall like a plant and mushroom but forming with different material (peptidoglycan). Some bacteria is motil (can move) and that mobility caused of flagella.
Bacteria can found in human body especially in alimentary tract. Total bacteria in human body are more than total cell in human body (10 times from cell). Because that, colonization bacteria very affect to human condition.
Environmental conditions that support can spur the growth and reproduction of bacteria. An environmental factor affecting growth and reproduction of bacteria is the temperature, humidity, and light.
In general, there are several tools that can be used to observe bacterial cells to various parameters, such as optical microscopy, electron microscopy, and atomic force microscope (AFM).
