What is Protein

What is Protein? Proteins is a complex organic compound containing carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and contain sulfur and phosphor. Proteins have a main function in structure and cell function all organism and virus

Protein in food which consume human will absorb by intestine in the form amino acid. Sometime amino acid which is peptide and small molecule will absorb through the intestinal wall and absorb into the blood vessels. This is what caused allergic reaction in body that arise in people which consume foods that contain protein like a milk, fish, shrimp, egg, etc.

Protein is a one of the giant biomolecules except polysaccharide, lipid, and polynucleotide, which main organism composition. Protein is the one of most studied molecules in biochemistry.
Proteins have 4 basic structures:

  • Primer structure
  • Secondary structure
  • Tertiary structure
  • Quaternary structure

To know the type, amount and sequence of amino acids in the protein analysis was performed which consisted of several phases:

  • Determination of polypeptide chain that stands alone.
  • Solving the bond between the polypeptide chains.
  • Solving each polypeptide chain, and
  • Analysis of the amino acid sequence of the polypeptide chain.

The usefulness of protein in the body are as follows:

  • sources of energy that needed for the development of the body
  • The formation of cells and tissues and simultaneously improve the damaged cells and damaged tissues
  • As the synthesis of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies
  • regulating balance levels of acid-base in cells

research shows that consuming a protein beneficial to health, diet, and lose weight. even, high-protein diet is said to be better than fat diet. Protein diet can help you lose weight, increase metabolism, reduce appetite, and reduce caloric intake. Protein is also very useful in improving the immune system.
